I may try the uninstall/reinstall idea, but if they fall out after that, i must give up. On the desktop outside the fences are all my program icons. But here's the gist of it. I have several fences. I've already put the icons back in their fences this evening or I'd enclose a screen shot.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and I have a 64-bit system.
I simply turn it off, and then the next time I turn it on, everything's out of the fences. I have done no Windows updates in the past week and have not messed with the desktop (wallpaper, screen saver, etc.) in months. It has happened 3 times in the past week - last thursday, Sunday, and now last night. I ALWAYS make sure I completely turn off the laptop before I close the lid. They ALWAYS fall out of the fences when I hibernate the computer. It has been happening with increasing regularity lately. Every once in a while, all icons fall out of their fences. I also have a Dell Inspiron 1720 (just like a previous poster). I have run and exited Fallout 3 quite a few times, and the behavior has been consistent.ĬanMan - Did your solution actually fix the problem? I'm using Windows 7 圆4 Pro with the latest free version of Fences. Having something to restore them is nice. It’s an interesting feature, but has drawbacks: You can’t use the keyboard to quick-search within a folder, and you can’t drill down to subfolders (clicking a subfolder just opens it in your file manager).I just installed Fences after having some issues where I needed to go into Safe Mode, which reset my resolution and moved my icons all over the place. It’s basically like having that folder constantly open on your desktop. If you have a folder with many files and subfolders, you can create a Folder Portal for it, and then get at those files directly. If moving your mouse all the way to the edge of the screen is too much work, you can also click the desktop, hold down Alt, and rotate the mousewheel to quickly flip pages.Īnother interesting feature new to Fences 2 is Folder Portals, which let you place interactive shortcuts to folders on your desktop.

It’s instant, and it’s my favorite feature because it lets me enjoy my wallpapers and still use the icons whenever I want them. When you want to reveal the icons again, double-click anywhere on the desktop and all of your Fences pop back into view. For reasons of both aesthetics and privacy, you may not always going to want icons cluttering up your wallpaper, so Fences can hide the icons once you leave the desktop idle for a while.
